Biting the Steel Toes Off Electric Pigs was an installation at the OK Hotel in 1992 by Janet and Edward Galore, in collaboration with Christopher MacRae on the sound track. The inspiration for the installation was riding the Bainbridge Island ferry at night, on the top deck, under the heat lamps. In the dim light you can smell the burning disel fuel, feel the heat on your head, and the heavy metal ground beneath your feet vibrates with the pulsing of the engines. We'd like to do a heavy-duty version of this some day, using steel instead of aluminum. |
